COMPREHENSIVE REPORT ON CHILDREN’S DAY CELEBRATION WITH THE STREET CHILDREN IN ATIKANKAN ADO EKITI, EKITI STATE, NIGERIA.
HELD ON THE
27TH OF MAY, 2021
Children day is one the national holiday celebration
among all the children in Nigeria. The celebration
is mark on 27th of May every year. It is a day set aside to celebrate
the future leaders. In other to make the street children to be part of this
year celebration, GLOBAL SUPPORT FOR KIDS INITIATIVE took it upon herself to
celebrate and make it a remarkable day for the street children by making the
day a colorful one with them and also give them the insight that their general
welfare is our greatest concern.
GLOBAL SUPPORT FOR KIDS INITIATIVE sees a very
tangible reason to celebrate these children on this remarkable day because we
see them as a normal and regular child we keep at home. It was due to various
circumstances in their homes, which make majority of them a victim and pushes
them on the street. We realize the society don’t care about their existence.
These street children are rejected, neglected and castigated, forgetting that
they play a very crucial role in our society.
The staff of
GLOBAL SUPPORT FOR KIDS INITIATIVE arrived the venue alongside with the
organization media man to cover the event. On getting
there, the children were happy to see us, they turned out with excitement, jumping,
dancing and full of energy immediately they hear the sound of music played. We
can see over them the feeling of being loved and cherished. The children were
given a plain card to demonstrate and speak out their mind,
“IF YOU LEAVE US ON THE STREET, WE BECOME HARDEN, BUT
IF YOU COME TO OUR AID, WE WILL BE RESCUED”.
“WE ARE LIVING IN HORRENDOUS CIRCUMSTANCE WHERE SKY IS
OUR ROOF AND STREET IS OUR LIFE WE CELEBRATE” HAPPY CHILDREN’S DAY TO US”.
WE ARE CASTIGATED, REJECTED AND NEGLECTED, WE ARE
PRONE TO BE TEMPTED, BUT WE WONT RELENT. HAPPY CELEBRATION TO US”.
The children were dancing while displaying the plain
card, snacks and drinks were served to make the merry for the day. It’s was an
awesome moment with the street children as we celebrate with them this year
children’s day.
